NANAIMO — A hold-and-secure at Nanaimo’s largest school was lifted after reports of a youth with a weapon.
Nanaimo RCMP Cst. Gary O’Brien confirmed the hold-and-secure was lifted to NanaimoNewsNOW‘s reporter on scene at NDSS just before 1 p.m. on Friday, June 4.
The order was first put in place around 11:50 after a call came in from NDSS students of a youth on the school property who might have a weapon.
O’Brien said officers were satisfied the youth was not around NDSS and did not have a weapon after an investigator contacted the youth.
Under a hold-and-secure, students are allowed to move freely within the school but no one is allowed to enter or exit.
