QUALICUM BEACH — A collision involving two trucks on the Inland Island Hwy. near Qualicum Beach sent one person to hospital in serious, but stable condition.
BC Emergency Health Services responded to a report of a high velocity collision on Highway 19 at the Horne Lake exit on Wednesday, Sept. 22 at about 1:15 p.m.
Oceanside RCMP stated their investigation confirmed a 79-year-old Bowser motorist entered the intersection, cutting off a southbound truck driven by 41-year-old Campbell River man, who was not injured.
“The investigation is ongoing and charges under the Motor Vehicle Act are expected. Impairment and speed do not appear to be factors in the crash,” Oceanside RCMP Sgt. Stephen Rose said in a statement.
Anybody who witnessed the crash or has dash cam footage is asked to contact Oceanside RCMP at 250-248-6111 citing police file: 2021-10261.
Emergency responders remained on scene for about two hours following the crash, resulting in traffic flow reduced to one lane in each direction.
