NANAIMO — Someone’s got to win it, so it might as well be you.
The jackpot for the Tuesday, Sept. 28 Lotto Max draw is will be the maximum $70 million, with an estimated 13 extra $1 million prizes on offer.
The total amount on offer Tuesday is a far cry from record highs set back in the spring and summer, where total prize pools were in excess of $120 million by the time someone matched all the right numbers.
During the record stretch one Nanaimo player, Ria Edmond, won $500,000 after matching enough numbers on a June 15 draw to split a $1 million prize with a winner in Ontario.
It was the latest substantial lotto win for Nanaimo players.
Since 2012, at least 19 people who purchased a ticket in Nanaimo have won $500,000 or more.
Parksville has also seen a recent winner, with Frances Lloyd pocketing $3 million in a June 19 Lotto 6/49 draw.
She celebrated with a nice dinner and some champagne.
BCLC said so far in 2021, B.C. players have won more than $162 million in Lotto Max winnings
