NANAIMO — Numerous events on the mid Island have gotten a financial boost from a provincial Covid-19 recovery program.
$240,000 for mid Island specific events between July 1, 2021 and Sept. 30 2022 were unveiled by the province on Monday, Dec 13.
The B.C. Government provided nearly $30 million of one-time grants to 134 communities across the province to support a range of gatherings following an application process.
“Recipients demonstrated the economic and social benefits to the community and strong local or regional support. Eligible expenses include operational costs, health and safety measures, venue rental, marketing, wages, and promotion,” a news release from the province stated.
