NANAIMO — Local police believe they’ve connected the dots of a late summer break-in at a Nanaimo church where numerous valuables including a $10,000 espresso coffee machine were swiped.
Penny Raines, 61, was charged last month with break and enter to commit an indictable offence in relation to an Aug. 30 break-in at Oceanside International Church on Jingle Pot Rd at Holland Rd.
RCMP obtained a search warrant at a north Nanaimo home well known for criminal activity, according to an RCMP news release, leading to the sizable seizure.
A 60-inch TV, speakers, security cameras and other valuables were found at the home, seized and returned to the church.
Most of goods stolen from the church were recovered, police noted.
In addition, an older model Jeep Cherokee was also seized and released to the Crown through the province’s Civil Forfeiture Act.
Raines’ next court appearance is Jan 11 where an arraignment hearing is scheduled.
