NANAIMO — The new year is going to bring a new wardrobe for Johanna Rossetto.
The Nanaimo woman is the latest lucky lotto winner on the mid-Island after winning $500,000 from the Oct. 29 Lotto Max draw by playing the extra.
She checked her ticket, purchased at the Quality Foods on Bowen Rd., while in the living room of her home before confirming the win by scanning it at the grocery store.
“My husband was the first person I told…then we shared the news that I won with our kids, my sisters and friends,” Rossetto said. “They were all very excited for me.”
She already has big plans for the windfall, including new clothes, a vacation, a new car and helping out her family.
The win means Nanaimo continues its recent trend of lotto luck.
Rossetto becomes at least the 20th person to win $500,000 or more on a ticket purchased in Nanaimo since 2012.
