NANAIMO — A man riding a motorcycle was injured in a mid-day crash on the Island Highway in central Nanaimo and was taken to hospital with an apparent head injury.
The accident occurred on Tuesday, Sept. 13 just after 11:20 a.m. when Nanaimo Fire Rescue (NFR) acting captain Ian Stenberg said the rider clipped the centre median curb and crashed on the highway just south of Bowen Rd.
Stenberg said the southbound rider landed on his face as he lost control.
It’s unclear what caused the man to veer into the median.
He was conscious following the crash, was wearing a helmet and no passengers were aboard, Stenberg confirmed.
NFR was joined by BC Ambulance Service personnel on scene.
Southbound traffic was temporarily reduced to one lane.
