PARKSVILLE — Oceanside RCMP hope public tips advance an investigation into a disturbing report of a young child being assaulted in Parksville.
Oceanside RCMP Sgt. Shane Worth says on Wednesday, May 3 at 4:25 p.m. near the intersection of the Alberni Hwy. and Dunbar Way, a two-year-old child is believed to have been assaulted by a caregiver.
Worth said police believe a motorist stopped to help but left before police got there.
“We don’t want people’s memories to fade into next week, we want to talk to you while your memories are still fresh,” Worth told NanaimoNewsNOW.
Police are looking to speak to the motorist who stopped and any other potential witnesses.
The alleged assault happened near the large apartment development a block east of the Quality Foods development.
