NANAIMO — The main entrance of the local RCMP detachment, along with the front parking lot are closed as a result of a suspicious package.
RCMP report “discovery of an unclaimed package” around 3 p.m. on Friday, July 11 outside the offices on the front steps.
Police say out of an abundance of caution, they’d closed off the area to the public.
“The RCMP Explosive Disposal Unit (EDU) was contact and are en route to investigate,” the detachment noted in a release.
More updates will be provided as the nature of the package is determined.
