NANAIMO — Non-emergency phone lines are currently not working at Vancouver Island and South Coast area RCMP detachments.
The Nanaimo RCMP detachment has been impacted for much of Friday, May 29, with the public asked to dial 911 in case of emergencies, or to report non-urgent incidents online or in person.
Other detachments impacted by the non-emergency phone line disruptions include Ladysmith, North Cowichan/Duncan, Port Alberni, North Vancouver, Pemberton, Sechelt, Squamish and Whistler.
“Additional detachments may also be experiencing intermittent issues,” stated a BC RCMP news release, which also noted work continues to restore service while they determine the cause of the outage.
Members of the public can also visit police departments during regular operational hours, and they are urged not to dial 911 for non-emergencies.
