NANAIMO — Due to mechanical issues with the Island Aurora’s sanitary systems, a number of ferry sailings between Nanaimo and Gabriola Island have been cancelled for Friday, Sep. 2.
Cancelled sailings include:
- 11:40 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 2:50 p.m. sailing departing from Descanso Bay (Gabriola Island)
- 12:55 p.m., 1:30 p.m., and 2:15 p.m. sailing departing from Nanaimo Harbour
In response to these cancellations, the Island Kwigwis will operate in shuttle mode until further notice.
Shuttle mode is when the ferry departs as soon as it is full instead of waiting for a scheduled departure.
BC Ferries said they are working to resolve the issues on the Island Aurora.
