NANAIMO — Before the Clippers took to the ice Nov. 10 against the Victoria Grizzlies they honoured veterans and paid tribute to the crew of the HMCS Nanaimo.
After a slow start they overtook Victoria for a 5-2 win.
Charlie Gollob and Nathan King gave the Grizzlies a 2-0 six minutes into the game but then Nanaimo started to chip away and got a massive power play goal from Noah Alvarez to bring the game to 2-1 at the intermission break.
In the second period the Clippers were dominant.
They added goals from Michael Murtagh, Luke Buss on the man advantage, Willyam Gendron on a clean breakaway and then Murtagh again on ricochet goal.
Once the Clippers got the lead they locked the game down with Tyler Hodges getting the win in net over the Grizzlies Oliver Auyeung-Ashton.
Nanaimo outshot Victoria 35-28 while going 2/3 on the man advantage and 4/4 killing penalties.
The Clippers were stingy defensively in the final period allowing only five shots on net.
The win broke a three game Nanaimo losing streak and an over four game losing streak on home ice.

On Nov. 11 the Clippers will travel to Alberni Valley in search of the their first win over the Bulldogs this season.
