It’s World Mental Health Day. As far as “days” go I’d say this is a pretty important one. I am a huge believer in therapy and taking care of your mental wellness in order to show up as the best version of yourself, for those around you but also, for you! Because you matter! A LOT!
I know there are a lot of reasons why someone who might need might not get therapy. One of the main reasons I often hear about is finances, which is so sooooo valid. Everyone should have access to mental health care so I’ve put together a short list of free/affordable options here in Nanaimo. Nanaimo Family Life Association:
One on one counselling done by trained volunteers. Based on a sliding scale and no one is turned away because of an inability to pay.
Low-cost counselling with practicum counsellors. They also do workshops and Support Groups.
Tillicum Lelum Aboriginal Friendship Centre
Provides service to Aboriginal people through a holistic approach to programming and services. They offer many programs, groups and healing circles.
