NANAIMO — A driver faces six criminal charges in relation to a Hwy. 19 crash at the Church Rd. overpass in Parksville, which resulted in injuries to three people, including a baby.
The BC Prosecution Service approved charges against Matthew Harry St. Pierre, 28, of Saanich, who was allegedly behind the wheel of a truck which crossed the grassy median, resulting in a head-on collision with a northbound car on March 3, 2025.
According to a BC Highway Patrol (BCHP) news release, both drivers, as well as a baby in the Toyota Prius, sustained non-life threatening injuries.
St. Pierre has been charged with four impaired driving-related charges, as well as a pair of dangerous driving causing bodily harm charges.
He was arrested on March 25 after charges were approved a month prior, the BCHP release stated.
St. Pierre appeared in Nanaimo court on May 12, with his next court date scheduled for May 26 in Nanaimo.
Court records indicate St. Pierre is currently in custody.
