Hardest working Dad/StepDad/Papa we know!!
I would love to nominate Mike Smith the father of my two oldest children and Papa to our only Grandson... I met Mike years ago in Inuvik we both worked for same store and we started dating ..he was always a great worker we had our first child Ryan in 1993...He was a special needs child with as lot of demands ..some men would have just run cause things were tough but Mike worked all night as a Baker while his son was child was at home going through colic.. As soon as he get home he take him to give me a break..he be tired but he just take him rock him and out they both went..it wasn't easy but it worked..I worked days he worked nights and had Ryan all day..then we had our daughter in 1996 she was very sick until after age 2 when she was admitted here in Nanaimo and did tests ..Michael stayed with her a few nights there and I did the rest while one was at home with our son..he never left either of them during this time..he worked helped clean the house watch the kids in between changed diapers baths whatever was needed to help he always remained by our sides.. Then in 2000 we separated but we did no fighting over where the kids were going to be the kids decided we were happy that our kids never went through 2 weeks there or two weeks elsewhere we still did things as a family ..I had a relationship for 5 years and out of it came my two younger sons ..Mike stepped in and care for those boys like his own..he was there when they were born he change their diapers he fed them bath them took them to the park pucked up at school with his own kids. Wherever the kids were or went Mike was there helped volunteered at their schools for lots if class activities for the week or at Christmas events ..craft fairs he helped out all of them the same and was proud if it..the boys called him Dad they had their own dad that was in and out of their lives when it pleased him in the 5 years so after 5 years I ended the relationship but Mike was there to helped me out ..if I needed money for diapers milk food etc he gladly helped out and remained as our family for our special occasions throughout the years. Christmas Bday Easter Thanksgiving he was there for all of it.....Mike has been with the superstore in Nanaimo for now 20 years years he keeps working and working to help himself help us whether he's in pain or not..recently he had 3 surgeries he missed one night at work..he went in pain came home to sleep made everyone dinner or went to the store for us as I don't drive so over the years he took everyone everywhere..me to store work appts same with the kids and never complains ..he us our best Dad ever and our Papa to our Grandson he takes him to school has sleepovers takes him to the park plays the Mario Kart and other games with him although he has no clue what he's doing lol...they play games on outer and collect cards they really have fun and Mike definitely has a great sense of humour....Mike deserves a lot has he gives tons and doesn't take and keeps on going tough..he loves BBQ ing .Steak is his favourite food ..I gave him a BBQ a few years now but he's definitely in need of a new one..I got him a set of BBQ utensils for Fathers that new BBQ would be amazing to the most amazing ex/ father/ stepfather/ and Papa to all of us..Mike isn't on Facebook !!
