When my son was born, I couldn’t wait to teach him about our family’s traditions.
Not just the love for the Vancouver Canucks, but for all that Christmas entailed.
First off, the introduction of his grandmother’s shortbread and sharing with dad.
Then it was the Christmas themed shows like animated classics ‘Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer’, ‘Frosty the Snowman’ and ‘Santa Claus is Coming to Town’, along with the movies ‘A Christmas Story and ‘Elf’.
Naturally, we had him leave out cookies and milk for Santa on Christmas Eve.
But we missed the ‘Elf on a Shelf’ phenomenon…which I’m fine with.
I have friends that do it, and I’m impressed with their creativity. It must be exhausting.
I’m not sure I could have had a new idea every day. Although I would have loved to have used ‘Die Hard’ as a theme.
Think about it ‘McClane on a Chain’ or ‘Gruber in an Uber’.
Yippee-ki-yay Mothers and Fathers!
